Our Story

My beautiful mum, Sobhna (her friends call her Sue) found herself locked out of the job market due to her age.

About this time my sister-in-law, Miranda, decided to set up a small stall selling biscuits and chutneys at the local Silverdale market. My mum would go with her to help look after my then six-month old niece, Xela. This was in 2008. Over time my mum started to become more involved in the market, helping with making chutneys, followed by samosa, pakora and spring rolls.

A few years later, Miranda decided to go back to work. My mum roped me into helping her so that she could carry on with her Sunday markets. Several years later, she added her curry paste, hot sauces and pickles range. She loves the process of buying whole spices, cleaning, roasting and grinding them and then blending them as she learnt to do with her mother.

Over the years my mum has a built a strong following of Indian food lovers on her Facebook page. Our products are 100% natural, vegan, gluten free, keto-friendly with no artificial colours, preservatives, msg, palm or soy oil, no added sugar and no fillers. We only use ingredients of the highest quality across all of our product range, sourcing, cleaning and roasting whole spices so you get only the very best. Our products are versatile, concentrated and super delicious! You can be confident that you will get the most authentic flavours bursting out of the jar!

Sobhna’s curry pastes and spice blends are made for you to easily and quickly replicate traditional home-made Indian food in the comfort of your house. These are meals that we eat at home here in Aotearoa, as well as in India and the UK.
